Amazon has recently released new compliance requirements. The TIC (Testing, Inspection, Certification) third-party verification rule for lithium battery products on European marketplaces took effect on July 2, 2026. For relevant products that have not completed verification, the platform will initiate delisting measures in phases starting September 30, 2026. This is a critical compliance matter that sellers offering lithium batteries, battery packs and replacement batteries must prioritize.

Which products are affected?

This policy applies mainly to: 

✅ Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries 

✅ Lithium polymer batteries (LiPo) 

✅ Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) 

✅ Rechargeable button cells 

✅ Replacement batteries 

✅ Battery packs

Note: This regulation targets lithium batteries themselves, not end products powered by lithium batteries.

What preparations should sellers make?

Amazon requires relevant products to meet the following standards: IEC/EN 62133-2 or IEC/EN 62619, together with UN38.3 transport test requirements. Verification must be completed via an Amazon-recognized third-party TIC body.

The biggest difference from previous rules lies in the strengthened third-party verification mechanism. Sellers must complete the verification process through authorized TIC service providers. Amazon has been rolling out the Direct Product Validation (DPV) model in recent years to tighten product compliance management.

What are the consequences of non-compliance?

According to the official notice, relevant products that fail to complete verification or pass document review will be suspended or delisted starting September 30, 2026. For sellers with stable sales on European sites, removal of listings due to compliance issues will disrupt sales performance and may ruin peak-season operation plans.
